Natalie Asitimbay, 17³Ô¹Ï Student and President of the Student Government Association (SGA)

I am a sophomore at 17³Ô¹Ï majoring in Liberal Arts. I also serve as the President of Nassau’s Student Government Association. Like so many college students, student debt has played a significant role in my higher education experience. During my senior year of high school, the biggest despair befell me when my family broke apart due to financial difficulties.

17³Ô¹Ï offered me a pathway to a quality education while being close to home. It afforded me the chance to help my mother adjust to being a single parent.

Nassau made the best academic and financial sense. In addition to challenging classes, attending Nassau enabled me to join clubs, including student government. Through my service in student government, I have been able to connect with students who faced the same distress of a broken home or the challenges of being a first-generation college student. The College's accessibility has given first-generation students like myself the ability to pursue an affordable, high-quality education.
