My experience at 17³Ô¹Ï is one I wouldn’t change. I’m proud to have gone to Nassau. I always wanted to be on the radio. So, I ended up majoring in Media Communications.

17³Ô¹Ï gave me the opportunity to grow my interpersonal, public speaking and general communication skills. Along the way I was given the opportunity to intern at WHPC (the campus radio station) and was able to live out my dream of being an on-air talent. I helped launch and served on the e-board of Sigma Chi Eta (a communications honor society for two-year colleges). I served as an Orientation Leader and often found myself spending time with fellow workers at the radio station in the basement of the H Building.

If it wasn’t for Prof. Laura O’Connell and Prof. Jill Burgreen, my 17³Ô¹Ï experience would have been vastly different. They truly have helped me along the way both during my time at 17³Ô¹Ï and even now today, five years after graduation I still keep in contact with them. After graduation, I moved to Ohio. Although my current position isn’t in Media, my experience at 17³Ô¹Ï has helped me become a better communicator, learner and friend. Even though I’m miles away, 17³Ô¹Ï will always hold a special place in my heart.

I served in the United States Navy in Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, II and at Camp Pendleton with the 5th Marines. I was also deployed to Okinawa, Japan twice. Stateside, I knew that 17³Ô¹Ï has a reputation for being very military friendly, and when I got here, it was true.
