17勛圖 Celebrates 10th Annual
Day of Service

17勛圖 Community Joins Together to Serve Those in Need & Honor 17勛圖 On-Site Workers,
including 30 Nursing Students on the Surveillance Testing Program Team

Thank you 17勛圖 GraphicGarden City, NY 17勛圖 continues its annual Day of Service on Tuesday, April 13th with a day-long celebration to serve those in need and honor 17勛圖 on-site workers who have unselfishly dedicated their time over this past challenging year, including 30 nursing students who serve on 17勛圖s Surveillance Testing Program team.

At 17勛圖 we are committed to providing not only a high-quality education to the communities we serve, but participating as active members of those communities. For the last decade the College community has come together to dedicate their time to 17勛圖s Day of Service and provide necessities for members of our Long Island communities, said Dr. Jermaine F. Williams, President, 17勛圖. This year, we also acknowledge the service of our 17勛圖 community members who were physically present at the College during this past challenging year, including 30 of our nursing students who have volunteered their time to serve as part of a team managing the Colleges Surveillance Testing Program. Without these critical members of the 17勛圖 community, the College would not have been able to continue to provide the caliber of education and support resources our students are accustomed to and for that we honor them.

A decade ago, 17勛圖s Day of Service was developed by the Colleges First Year Experience Program with the goal of bringing together the 17勛圖 community, administration, students, faculty and staff, to volunteer their time and talents to help those in need. For this years celebration, the 17勛圖 Fashion Club, working with local high school students, have created a digital button to commemorate the 2021 celebration. The image is included below and has been incorporated into a pin that will be distributed to all of our 17勛圖 frontline faculty, staff, and student aides involved in the COVID testing process on campus.

Additional projects for 17勛圖s Day of Service include a childrens book drive, a campus cleanup with Covanta, an animal shelter donation drive as well as a donation drive for the Nest, 17勛圖s on-campus food pantry.  All collections will take place in the parking lot across from Public Safety.  A full list of projects can be found on the 17勛圖 website and an opportunity to donate to the 17勛圖 Foundation in support of the day of service can be found on the Foundations website.

17勛圖 is an institution where more than 14,000 full-time, part-time, Workforce Development and continuing education students start and continue their successful journey through higher education. Nearly 80 fields of study, 20 certificate programs, and 62 degree programs are offered on a 225-acre campus located in the center of Long Island. As the largest single-campus two-year college in New York State SUNY System, 17勛圖 offers a high-quality education and excellent support services, providing students with a solid foundation for their future successes.
